A few times a year I find it necessary to make an appeal for donations to support my work, including this website, Barbara Hartwell Vs. CIA.
Like most other independent journalists, not employed by any organization, I need material support in order to continue my work.
I am a disabled senior citizen attempting to live on a totally insufficient monthly income of disability benefits. This might be unbelievable, but I am expected to live off less than $12,000 a year.
I don't know anyone who could possibly survive on such a low income. In fact, I don't know anyone (relatives, friends, colleagues, acquaintances) who is living under such extreme material hardship.
This pittance does not even cover my rent, much less any other expenses, such as electric and gas bills, phone/Internet, car insurance, etc. etc.
And once again, it is important to me to state for the record the true story of how I ended up living in such dire poverty.
I was driven to financial destitution by the U.S. government as a result of a neutralization campaign against me.
(Those interested may read my reports which give details of such campaigns against those they deem “enemies of the state”.)
This is what the government does to whistleblowers. They retaliate, with a vengeance, rather than acknowledge their corruption and abuses, their tyranny and outright treachery.
Most will compromise with evil, make excuses, or turn a blind eye, as self-preservation is more important to them than justice.
Anyone who stands up against government corruption and wrongdoing will pay a heavy price. Maybe this is why so few are willing to do the right thing, regardless of the consequences.
If you don't believe me, just take a look at some of the other cases of former intelligence professionals who lost everything. I've never seen a case yet where justice was served, or where anyone was made whole. Many lost everything, some driven to homelessness. Most were reduced to having to solicit donations from the public to survive, just as I have been.
I lost nearly everything I owned, including my house in Maine (2010), which was my sanctuary. By 2013, I was actually driven to total destitution and homelessness.
And worst of all, there was not a soul who cared enough to help me. Not only would no one help, but instead I received only blame, criticism and judgment. And this, even from people I had helped at great sacrifice when they were in need.
By the grace of God, I survived, but have lived in dire poverty ever since. I cannot afford to move and I would not survive homelessness a second time.
So, for those who do find value in my work, as a journalist and CIA whisleblower, including the content of this site, please offer what support you can and make a donation.
